Before you begin
Let’s make sure you’re all set before diving in:
Download RARO App
Download the app and create your account, it’s quick and easy!
Search for "RARO - your time travel mate" on the App Store or Google Play or click the links below:
Scan or Redeem to Unlock your Experiences
Once in the App, and if you’re part of a tour, scan a QR code you will get from your tour guide from the top-right on the Map section to unlock the Experiences!
In case you are doing it your way, Purchase your Access Code and Redeem in the app! Copy your access code you receive via email and paste it on the Redeem section entering from the top-right on the Map section or directly from the Profile section.
Assemble your RARO Cardboard lens
In case you’ve gotten the Cardboard lens, It’s time to put it together!
Follow step-by-step the below instructions to assemble it in just a few seconds:
Unbox: Take the Carboard lens out of its sleeve or packaging.
Fold the top flap: Lift the top flap and open the front cover completely.
Lift and reverse the side wings: Pull up the side flaps - on either side - and fold them inward so they lock into place.
Place your mobile phone: Rotate your smartphone and place it inside the Cardboard lens without closing it.
Calibrate your visual: Once in the Cardboard mode, tap settings and calibrate through appropriate arrows your visual quality.
Close it up and enjoy!
Fold the top flap back down to secure your phone in place. Put on your cardboard lens, and get ready to step into the past!
Interact & Explore in Augmented Reality
Learn the gestures to explore reconstructions, switch between historical reconstructions, listen to audios and enjoy a grat view to the past!
To begin press Start, and choose your preferred view mode.
Point your phone around to explore the content
Tap the icons you will find around to display the 3D models
From the menu button you can:
Listen the history about the 3D models
Read the history about the 3D models
Hide the 3D models
Use the camera icon to capture screenshots within the AR environment
Switch to Cardboard mode at any time for an immersive experience
Handheld mode
Cardboard mode
Put your Cardboard lens on and point them out to explore the content.
When you center an icon, it lights up. At that moment, press either the cardboard button or your phone’s screen to:
Display the 3D models
Listen about your displayed 3D models
Hide your 3D models
To exit the immersive view, you can switch back at anytime to Handheld mode
From the menu at your feet, center the icons to:
💡 Tips for the Best Experience
Find a comfortable spot. Whether you’re standing in front of a landmark make sure you’re steady.
Adjust focus. If the image looks blurry, adjust the cardboard lens or reposition your phone.
Explore fully. Move around, get closer to landmarks, and immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of ancient Rome.
Please, remember before enjoying RARO’s augmented reality experience, consider your safety and surroundings. Keep a safe distance from objects and people, avoid using the app while driving, and ensure there is adequate lighting. Do not cross streets while using the experience, limit usage time to prevent eye strain, maintain good posture, keep your device charged, and respect the privacy of others.
